African Greys$850.00Also known as: Congo Grey or Red-Tail Greys are native to Central Africa and the islands off Africa's West Coast. These companion birds have the ability to learn colors, recognize some toys, copy several voices, develop enormous vocabularies and appreciate all the daily noises we take for granted. They are very intelligent, extremely affectionate and beautiful in various shades of silver and gray with a bright red tail. Life span 40+ years. Average Length 11-12" These parrots wean at about 3-1/2- 4 months old "Hello My Lover Boy" "Come Here and Talk To Me" "See Ya Later" "I Love ou Soooo Much" "Give Me a Kiss" "Mommy's Got To Go Bye Bye"| "Oh Boy!" "Don't Be Grumpy" "Hey...You're Too noisy" They have my voice perfectly! I can't tell you how many times my hubby has hot-footed it to the house to see what I need--only to find out I NEVER called him. Never mind the hundreds of times I've hurried to the house to answer the phone that wasn't really ringing. |
Notes From Noell... I raise my breeder Greys in a huge aviary where they can live together in a simulated African world. They learn to respect each other's areas for breeding and yet they can socialize and share food and drink- even bathing- as they would in the wild. I know this is different than the majority of breeders and sometimes raises an eyebrow or two but I have found it to be an excellent way to help them stay well-adjusted, happy and healthy. Babies are left in the nest long enough to benefit from the parents instincts and begin a normal feeding routine. They are then pulled to a brooder for their safety and more personalized care. Thus human bonding skills begin. I teach them basic etiquette and disciplines and climbing, playing, holding, feeding, cuddling, bathing and alone time skills. They are talked to, sung to and played with daily. |

What Do They Eat?
We recommend fresh fruit and vegetables in the morning, with free choice of seed, pellets and dried fruit and vegetables all day. For some reason, greys seem to like a little more spicy food that the rest of my group. I provide various hot dried chili peppers in their daily mix. You'll know they are eating them if you kiss them and your lips burn!
My greys also like cooked chicken, hamburger and bratwurst. Believe it or not! |
